In order to safeguard the health and welfare of the consumer, only safe food should be traded and put on the market. The concept of food safety already starts with the producer, which is why feedingstuffs for food-producing animals are integrated into the concept. The sustainable production of organic products is as much a component of the efforts to produce safe foods and feedingstuffs as are the priority areas of environmental protection and animal welfare.
The Customs Administration provides support to the specialised authorities monitoring the international trade in foods and feedingstuffs.
