In addition to foreign trade restrictions relating to certain goods, there are what are termed "bans on the provision of resources" to certain countries, individuals, institutions or organisations.
This means that the provision of funding and/or technical assistance, on the one hand, and the provision of funding and/or economic resources, on the other, to certain individuals, institutions, or organisations can be prohibited.
Provisions of this kind help to prevent the financing of terrorism and the financing of certain militant non-government groups of individuals, or governments in the countries concerned.
These can result in general bans on the import, export, and transit of goods from certain suppliers or to certain consignees.
