Where to obtain information
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has established a Minimum Wage Helpline for anybody seeking information about the minimum wage and its implications. It is meant to be the central help desk for any enquiries, whether by phone or by mail, about minimum wages as laid down in the Minimum Wage Act (Mindestlohngesetz - MiLoG) and Posted Workers Act (Arbeitnehmer-Entsendegesetz - AEntG), and about the wage floor pursuant to the Provision of Temporary Workers Act (Arbeitnehmerüberlassungsgesetz - AÜG). This Helpline is open for citizens, employees and employers alike.
The Central Customs Information Desk (Zentrale Auskunft Zoll) is your contact for any enquiries you might have about the ancillary duties contained in German legislation on minimum wages (MiLoG, AEntG and AÜG), such as the obligation to cooperate, to give notification, or to create, retain and provide records for review and inspection. Please know that both legal interpretation and legal advice are expressly excluded from the services offered by the Central Customs Information Desk.

The competent authority for verifying whether the minimum wage is paid in a certain case, and for sanctioning any violations of the minimum wage legislation, is the Customs Financial control of undeclared work.
Where the Helpline established by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs receives reports - whether anonymous or citing the informant’s name - that may indicate violations of the minimum wage legislation, the Helpline team will not pursue the issue further since it would then fall within the competence of the main customs office; the informant will in this case be given the phone number and address of the relevant authority in each specific affair.
